How is FREECOM® different from
other portable air conditioners?
Energy Efficient Unique design features
Reliable Stylish Quiet
- California Energy Commission (www.energy.ca.gov)
Specifications for all FREECOM® products have been reviewed and
certified by the California Energy Commission. California leads
the USA in promoting energy efficiency in air conditioning products
and household appliances.
- Lightweight, Compact and Energy Efficient
Bigger is not better. Through the use of comprehensive engineering
design and current technology such as proprietary Ripple Finned
Copper Tube with Louver Fin coil design, solid state
PC circuitry and injection molded cabinets, FREECOM® products offer
energy efficiency with maximum cooling capacity in a compact,
attractive non-corrosive, light weight cabinet.
- Matsushita Rotary Compressor Motors
FREECOM® products use Matsushita brand rotary compressors in
combination with proprietary Ripple Finned Copper Tube
with Louver Fin coils and low wattage dual motors (models
RCS-M2000T, RCS-S3000T). This engineering feat is the envy of
the industry offering FREECOM® owners quiet operation and maximum
energy efficiency. Matsushita compressors are the most efficient,
reliable compressors available worldwide.
- Quiet Operation
Many of the features in FREECOM® products incorporated for energy
efficiency also promote quiet operation. An important feature
in a FREECOM® product is the air movement or CFM (volume) factor.
To reduce air noise FREECOM® products are engineered to deliver
maximum CFM at a lower velocity. This equates to faster
space cooling with substantially lower noise levels.
Buyer Beware: Don't be fooled by high velocity products, CFM is
the important factor.
- State of the Art Electronic Controls
FREECOM® products feature current, trouble free PC technology with
"fuzzy logic memory" and soft touch key pads.
Buyer Beware: Avoid outdated technology found in products that
use obsolete "Knobs/dials" and mechanical switches.
- Easy to maneuver
Years of product testing have resulted in FREECOM® products
designed for user-friendly mobility. From balanced weight
distribution to heavy-duty castor wheels and ergonomically designed
carrying handles. FREECOM® products can be moved from room to room
quickly and easily.
Buyer Beware: Avoid products that are "top heavy" and
can tip over when moving. Avoid heavy, large metal cabinet products
that are cumbersome to maneuver.
- Reliable air-air design (no water required) Air
to air design is simply the best, offering both convenience
and cooling consistency.
In the air conditioning industry, air-to-air design is
perhaps the oldest and most reliable method for transferring or
removing heat in room air conditioning products.
Note: In the dryer southern states, a specialty product is used
for cooling and is commonly referred to as a "swamp cooler".
These products are different from standard air conditioners in
that they do not remove/transfer heat but circulate moist (humidified)
air. Water is required for these products to operate effectively.
Swamp coolers, may not be suitable for moisture sensitive equipment
(computers) and not widely recommended for use in areas with high
humidity conditions.
Buyer Beware: Some brands of portables may require you to add
water (water cooled) to help increase or maintain the product's
heat transfer capability. With these "water cooled"
products if you forget to add water the cooling capacity may be
reduced by as much as 30% or more.
- Dual Fan Motors For maximum cooling effect and energy
efficiency FREECOM® models RCS-M2000T and RCS-S3000T are engineered
with a separate evaporator and condenser fan motor.
Buyer Beware: Avoid products that utilize a single fan motor.
These cheaper designed products are less efficient.
- Large Selection of Condenser Air Venting Kits
Why do I need a vent kit? All air conditioners
must vent or exhaust the heat that it has collected from the room
or space that is being cooled. This hot air is referred to as
"condenser air". For the typical portable air conditioner
(FREECOM® models RCS-M2000T and RCS-M1000T) a flexible hose is
packaged with the air conditioner to exhaust the condenser air
outside. Solid heavy duty molded fittings are included with the
hose and are easily attached to the air conditioner. The condenser
air hose can be attached to a window, sliding door, through a
wall or ceiling. FREECOM® offers optional venting kits for these
and other applications.
FREECOM® window and sliding door adjustable vent kits are attractive
and durable. Stylish polished aluminum panels and integrated rubber
sealing gaskets are unique in the industry.
Note: FREECOM® model RCS-S3000T is designed in two pieces.
A separate outdoor unit is used to remove heat. This two piece
design offers the highest energy and cooling efficiency rating.
A condenser air hose is not required for model RCS-S3000T.
Buyer Beware: Some brands of portables offer plastic window vent
kit panels. These kits have a short life span and are prone to
cracking and are difficult to seal in a window, reducing cooling
and energy efficiency.
- Condensate Water Collection and Draining
During the cooling cycle, all (real) air conditioners dehumidify
or remove moisture from the air. All FREECOM® products are designed
with special integrated tanks to collect and store condensate
water. When the tank is full, FREECOM® products will automatically
shut off with both audio and visual (light) warning functions.
Model RCS-M2000T can be equipped with a option continuous draining
feature.
Model RCS-S3000T is designed with internal pump and unique "slinger"
design to evaporate condensate water and increase the outdoor
condenser efficiency.
Buyer Beware: Avoid stand alone products that do not have accessible,
internal condensate tanks. These outdated product designs require
you to physically lift the product up to accommodate draining.
Avoid products that exhaust condensation water through the condenser
air hose. A kinked or broken hose could result in flooding or
water damage to your home/office.
- Special Quick Disconnect Fittings for Model RCS-S3000T
Differing from model RCS-M2000T and RCS-M1000T, FREECOM® model
RCS-S3000T comes in two sections, an indoor unit (evaporator/cooling)
and outdoor unit (condenser). The two sections are connected at
the factory using specially designed refrigerant lines manufactured
for flexibility and durability using neoprene hose with stainless
steel braiding. The lines are encased in an attractive one-piece
sheath.
In most applications the line set does not have to be removed
or disconnected. However, should it be necessary to disconnect
the line set, FREECOM® model RCS-S3000T is designed with proprietary
technology that allows you to disconnect and connect the refrigerant
lines without worry of discharging excessive amounts of refrigerant.
Refrigerant loss from FREECOM® model RCS-S3000T is less than .0002%
per disconnecting/(re) connecting task. Plug in electrical and
condensate water drain line are included to enhance fast and convenient
separation of the indoor and outdoor units.
Buyer Beware: Avoid products that are "hard piped" with
refrigerant line sets that must be cut and re-welded resulting
in substantial refrigerant loss and require recharging of refrigerant.
- Recognition worldwide for reliability.
With a component failure rate of less than one half percent FREECOM®
products set a standard in the industry and are used as a benchmark
for manufacturing excellence.
- Modularized component design.
Unfortunately, FREECOM® products are not infallible.
In the rare situation that a FREECOM® requires service, the internal
components have been designed for modular breakdown. This unique
feature provides easy access to all internal components which
means quick repairs, minimal reassembly and reduced labor repair
costs.
- Five Year Warranty
The motor compressor in all FREECOM® products is covered for a
full five years. For the first year the product is covered by
a limited parts and labor warranty. For years two to five the
compressor is covered by a parts only limited warranty. See written
warranty for details.
- ITS (ETL/ETLc) safety rated (www.etlsemko.com)
To ensure product safety for consumers, all FREECOM® products are
designed, tested and approved in accordance with ITS (ETL) standards.
ITS is recognized worldwide for product safety testing. ETL is
the abbreviation for Edison Testing Laboratory.
